I qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 1995 and I am registered with the Health Professions Commission. I have over 15 years experience working in the NHS at Airedale General and Skipton hospitals specialising in musculoskeletal physiotherapy. More recently I have specialised in the treatment of pain and in particular the treatment of pain using acupuncture and TENS. Prior to this I was a lecturer and researcher in Biomechanics and Sports Science and gained my Masters degree in Sport and Exercise Medicine from Sheffield University in 1990.
I am qualified to use acupuncture and I am a member of both the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists and the Physiotherapy Pain Association. I am currently working towards a PhD at Leeds Metropolitan University researching the use of acupuncture for cancer-related pain.
I live just outside Skipton on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. My interests are many and varied but I particularly enjoy running, orienteering and playing my euphonium in a Brass Band.
